BMW unveils self-parking car system

bmwCar companies continue to implement features that make basic driving functions easier, and now wearable technology has entered the equation.

BMW plans to unveil a smart watch-controlled automated parking system next month at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the company announced on Monday. Drivers would activate the BMW i3’s parking system by speaking commands into a smart watch linked to the vehicle.

An i3 could navigate through parking garages, using scanners to avoid hazards such as “incorrectly parked vehicles” and find a spot, all without a driver, BMW said. The car would lock itself, firing back up once it receives voice activation from the driver’s smart watch. >more
